Dear Friends,
Just recently, while at church, someone asked a question. The question was, how can a person retain what he or she reads from God's Word? To me, this is indeed a good question to ask. And if you desire to know the answer to this question, then please read these lessons that I will be sending you on the subject of MEDITATION IN GOD'S WORD.
Believe me when I say that these lessons can prove to be life-changing, if you apply the principles I will share with you to your life. Meditation in God's Word is POWERFUL, for it gives the Spirit of the Living God the opportunity to open, unveil and reveal the truths of God's Word to our hearts. The life-altering principles of God's Word can change any life, if we will give heed to His Word, meditating upon it as He makes it ALIVE TO US and IN US.
God spoke of the power of meditating in His Word to Joshua, a man who was being given the assignment of leading six million Jews into their promised inheritance and dividing the land to and for each tribe. Moses, God's Servant, who had been given this assignment initially, had died and the lot fell upon Joshua. What a task? He had to lead these people and help them receive what God had promised them. How was he going to do it? How was he going to finish what Moses had began by the direction of God?
God gave him the answer. God told him that if he would meditate in His Word, day and night, he would be enabled to observe what God's Word said, so that he could do God's Word and thereby prosper and be successful in His God-given assignment.
Joshua 1:8 "This book of the law (God's Word) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shall make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success."
God assured Joshua that if he would give himself to day and night meditation in His Word and do His Word, his success was a sure thing.
God states the power of meditation in His Word again in the Psalms.
Psalms 1: 1-3 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law (the Word) of the Lord; and in His law (The Word), doth he meditate
day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season. His leaf also shall not wither and WHATSOEVER HE DOETH SHALL PROSPER.
Wow. What a promise? God says the person who meditates in His Word, day and night, will put himself or herself in the position to live a blessed life, prospering and being successful in
WHATSOEVER HE DOETH. Wow. Do you grasp the power and understanding of what God is saying here? He says, WHATSOEVER HE DOETH SHALL PROSPER. WHATSOEVER HE
DOETH.
Seeing that, through meditation of God's Word, we are putting ourselves in a position to be
mightily blessed of God in whatever we do, it is vital that we learn the principles of MEDITATION IN GOD' WORD. And we will continue in our next lesson together.
