Get Your Hopes Up

When I was growing up a popular statement was the saying, "Don't get your hopes up." Some said this statement because they feared that if one got his or her hope up too high, and things did not go as planned, the individual would end up real depressed or discouraged. So many decided to live their lives by that slogan. However, I would like to encourage you to, GET YOUR HOPES UP!

Hope is not wish. To wish simply means to desire. And desire alone will never bring your God-given goals or dreams to reality. To hope, however, means to live with Divine expectation of good. It is not merely wishing, but trusting that what God has placed in your heart, or what you are determined to have or become will happen. This expectation should be so strong and purposeful within you that you are prepared to work steadily towards that very end.

Real hope comes from dreaming of better, imagining better, and accepting that you can have better, be better, do better. It refuses to accept mediocrity or the popular saying that whatever will be will be. No, the individual of true purpose will always seek to progress and will do so with determination, grit, perseverance, hope and faith. All things (good, wholesome, productive things) are possible if you believe, if you keep your expectations high, and trust that God will do His part if you do your part.

KEEP YOUR HOPES UP! Don't let anyone tell you to lower them. Ooh, they might do that. Even close loved ones may say such things in fear that what you are believing and working towards may not happen. However, you do not have to accept their beliefs. You can believe otherwise. You can believe you can get a better job, your dream job, with greater pay. You can believe that you can get that college degree regardless of your age, or even lack of previous education. You can believe that you can be a better more efficient preacher, or teacher, or a better husband or wife. You can believe that things will get better for you and that things will turn around in your favor. Remember, with God all things are possible. Say that to yourself often until it becomes alive within you.

Focus your attention upon your expectation, and pursue your God-given dreams with a relentlessness that refuses to quit or give up. NEVER GIVE UP!

You have what it takes to make it. You have what it takes to do it. You have what it takes to have it. KEEP YOUR HOPES UP. Then go with GREAT EXPECTATIONS of seeing your dreams become a reality!

There is a popular saying that goes, "Man is a creature of habit." While this statement may have merit, consider for a moment the reality...
